9-year-old girl seriously injured in northwest Charlotte shooting
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 9-year-old girl is being treated for serious injuries after a shooting in northwest Charlotte Wednesday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The shooting happened Wednesday in the 900 block of Davenport Street. When police arrived on the scene, they said they saw four rounds had entered the residence, one of which struck the little girl.
The girl was taken to the hospital by medics to be treated for serious injuries.
Five other people were home at the time of the shooting, according to police.
Police said an initial investigation led them to search for a vehicle that could be associated with the suspects. They found that vehicle in the 3200 block of Beatties Ford Road. When the officers tried to stop the vehicle, though, police said the driver did not stop which started a pursuit.
The pursuit ended in the 2000 block of Patton Avenue where the suspects were detained.
On Thursday, CMPD released the names of the three suspects connected to this incident. Anthony Smith, 21, Tariq Miller, 23, and Shiodon Shipp, 23, have all been charged with four counts of discharging a firearm into occupied property, five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and felony conspiracy.
Suspects accused of shooting 9-year-old girl
According to police, Shipp and Miller are convicted felons, so they were charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
